Daniel Lewis Shaffer, 90, was born to the late Daniel Webster Shaffer and Flora Banister Shaffer of Urbana, Illinois in Graff, Missouri on October 17, 1925. He passed away April 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife Ramona V Shaffer of 70 years; a daughter Donna M Edwards and her husband James of Danville, Illinois; and a son Daniel W. Shaffer and his wife Cynthia of Indianapolis, Indiana. He has four grandsons: Eric Cales and his wife Reginia of Covington Indiana, Brian Edwards and his wife Celia of Springfield, Illinois, Daniel E Shaffer and his wife Jackie of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Christopher Shaffer of Phoenix, Arizona. Also two great grandsons: Aaron Cales and Patrick Edwards, and two great granddaughter Beatrix J Edwards and Jadelyn Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister in Illinois. There are lots of nieces and nephews. He retired from General Motor in Danville, Illinois. He was a part of Union Members #579 and an electrician for 29 years and 9 months. He did carpentry and electrical work in Arkansas before retiring.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Batesville and a 32nd Degree Mason of Danville, Illinois. He has been Past Patron of three different Eastern Star chapters in Arkansas, a member of Bethesda Extension Homemakers and a member of Faith Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Batesville.
Graveside rites will be held at Kyler Cemetery with Rev. Alan Meinzer serving at 10:00 AM and Masonic Rites by the Masonic Lodge, arrangements by Willis Funeral Service. Instead of flowers, memorials can be made to Ruth Chapter #91 of the Eastern Star for the Heart or Lung Association.
Pallbearers are: Clinton Thomas, Bobby Bennett, Steve Davis, Nathan Grant, Russell Bridgewater, and J.T Thurman.
