Billy Charles Monday, 88, of Springdale, formerly of Batesville passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 in Springdale. He was born June 8, 1925 in Desert, TX to William Jennings Monday and Georgia Lee Tree Monday. Billy graduated with a BME from Arkansas State Teacher's College now University of Central Arkansas, he served in the Navy during WWII, taught in the Arkansas school system for thirty years and retired from Batesville Schools in 1988. Billy was a member of the American Band Directors Association, a member of the Arkansas Band Directors Association, a Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with The Round Table Coffee Shop Group at The Springdale Senior Center. He devoted his life to music, teaching, and his family.
Survivors include one son, Billy Charles Monday and his wife, Deborah Baker Monday of Providence, UT; three daughters, Aleca Ann Snow and her husband Danny of Springdale, Brenna Lee Gay and her husband Wade of Jonesboro, and Charlee Jean Terrell and her husband Ronnie of Leesburg, FL; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Imogene Keller Monday and one brother, James E. Monday.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Don Carter officiating. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville. Pallbearers are Billy Charles Monday, Danny G. Snow, Daniel Garrett Snow, Jason Gay, Matthew Gay, Wade Gay, and Tyler Gay.
Visitation is 5 - 7 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014.
