Etta Jean King, 93, of Batesville passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019. Etta was born September 22, 1926 to Paul and Alta (Jenkins) Varnell in Caraway, AR. Etta was of the Baptist faith and was a member at Salado Baptist Church. She loved gardening, both her flowers and her vegetables, and decorating and tending to her yard. She loved and was very good at embroidery. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many special friends.
Etta was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of 58 years, Charles Q. King, her brother, James Varnell, 4 sisters: Paulene Scott, Stella Haney, Glenda Robertson, and Ava Crabtree, and her son, Charles Junior King. Etta is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Rogers, and 3 grandchildren: Curtis Wayne King, Jeannie (Anthony) Wilson, and Keith (Donna) Rogers, and 8 great grandchildren. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Rogers, Jesse Rogers, David Crabtree, Junior Thatch, Danny Dowell, and Johnathan Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers are Curtis Wayne King and Betty Dowell
Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. Etta’s visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 10-11 AM followed by her 11 AM Funeral Service. Both services will be at Salado Baptist Church in Batesville, AR. Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery.
