Leonard Wood

 Leonard Fay Wood, 79, of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2024. He was born on September 27, 1944, in Batesville, Arkansas. He was the youngest son of Lester and Zella Wood.  

  As a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, family meant more to him than anything. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains. He worked as a truck driver for more than 35 years. In his spare time, he loved to garden and sell produce at the Wood Brothers’ Watermelon Shack, which he started with his brother Carl in 2004. He enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped by and took pride in everything he grew. He also loved his dog, Big Dog, who followed him everywhere while he worked. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Zella Wood; a son, Travis Wood; and three brothers, Charles Wood, Carl Wood, and Glen Wood.

  He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Brenda Wood; his children and children-in-law, Brent and Kimberly Wood, Fayla and Richard Henderson, Bradley and Teresa Wood, and Michelle Vanwinkle; thirteen grandchildren, Jacob Wood, Seth Wood, Katelynn Elliott, Luke Elliott, Emily Money, Brady Wood, Corey Collins, Kayla Collins, Brittany Sizemore, Thomas Henderson, Bryan Henderson, Angela Henderson, and Jeremy Henderson; and twenty great-grandchildren, Leighton Wood, Harrison Wood, Summer Wood, Oliver Money, Caitlynn Collins, Elijah Collins, Solomon Collins, Gideon Collins, Olive Collins, Bryce Harp, Aiden Harp, Jake Henderson, Brittany Henderson, Brandon Henderson, Richard Highfeild, Austin Heath, Grayson Henderson, Tucker Henderson, Beckett Henderson, and Finn Henderson. 

  Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains will host the services on Friday, March 8, 2024. Visitation will be at the church from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., with the funeral service, officiated by Verlon Wood, beginning at 2 p.m. Interment at Union Grove Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Brady Wood, Seth Wood, Luke Elliott, Corey Collins, Eric Sizemore, and Charlie Money.
