James Elvis Yocom, 87, of Horseshoe Bend, AR, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Batesville, AR. He was born on November 22, 1936, in Quitaque, TX, to the late Carl Elvis Yocom and Ora Wayne (Maples) Yocom. Jim was of Christian faith and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He (delete: earned his commission and became a pilot for) served with the VAH11 heavy attack squadron in the US Navy, flying the “A3D” (Douglas A-3 Skywalker) from the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier. He was a true patriot and very proud of his service. He and his wife, Barbara (Sweat) Yocom, had recently moved to Arkansas to settle down and enjoy their retirement together after living for several years in Fort Myers, FL. Jim was an expert on tax lien certificates. He was a fantastic public speaker and a published author who appeared on television and spoke on the radio numerous times sharing his expertise with anyone who would listen and wanted to learn. Jim was a kind-hearted intellectual who was passionate about many things in his life, but nothing more so than his family. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.
Jim is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, David Yocom. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 42 years, Barbara Yocom, of the home; his two sons, Carey Yocom (Amy) of Centennial, CO, and Michael Yocom, of Tampa Bay, FL; his 5 grandchildren, Kevin Yocom (Devin), Matthew Yocom (Lauren), Eric Yocom, Lauren Yocom, and Aaron Yocom; and his four great-grandchildren, Kaiyas Yocom, Linkin Yocom, Cure Lee Yocom, and Lucas James Yocom.
