Vergie O Reed

Vergie O Reed, 93, passed away Sunday, January 14th, 2018. She was born October 26th, 1924 in Wolf Bayou, Arkansas to Henry Calvin Hoover and Bertie (Brock) Hoover. She worked as a cook for Desha and Batesville Schools. She was member of the Jamestown Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and farming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bertie Hoover; her husband, Walter Reed; one great-grandson, Will Drake; and one great-great grandson, Kaden Drake; one sister, Virginia Martin; and one brother, James Hoover.
She is survived by three sons; Walter Reed, Claud Reed, and Winfred Reed and his wife Beverly; and her daughter, Anna Gipson and her husband, Gary; one brother, Charles Hoover; three sisters, Dovie Polk, Hollis Kinder, and Kay Brown; three grandchildren, Michelle Helton, Tommy Reed, and Missy Drake; eleven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17th from 12-2 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM both at the Jamestown Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery
Pallbearers include, James Roach, Russ Staggs, David Magouyrk, Shane Blevins, John Sherbert, and Bryan Jeffery.
Honorary Pallbearers include, Jack Helm and all the Staff of Mountain Meadows Nursing Home.
