Forrest Jeffrey

Forrest Jeffrey, 92, of Southside passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Southside. He was born November 6, 1922 in Locust Grove to Stonie Jeffrey and Euna Elms Jeffrey. Forrest was married to Vergie Edith Graham of Concord for 68 years. His greatest joy was his family of five children, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Forrest was a plumber and electrician by trade. He enjoyed serving his community. He served 23 years on the Southside School Board and many years on the Independence County School Board. He was a WWII Army Airforce 8th Air Service Command Veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Forrest E. Jeffrey of Texarkana, Michael L. Jeffrey of Newark, and C. Phil Jeffrey of Batesville; two daughters, Carolyn J. Cunningham of Denton, Texas and Sharon J. Sharp of Lynchburg, Virginia; two brothers, E. Wayne Jeffrey of Locust Grove and Bobby Jeffrey of Sheridan; two sisters, Jolene Thorne of Locust Grove and Mary Alice Southard of Batesville; fourteen grandchildren, Bill Jeffrey, Kristen Andrews, Carey Cunningham-Scott, Bradley Cunningham, Carma Meitzen, Alex Jeffrey, Seth Jeffrey, Ashley Melton, Wesley Jeffrey, Emily Cooper, Samuel Sharp, Julie Sharp, Sarah Sharp and Hannah Sharp; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Billy Jeffrey, Andrew Jeffrey, Corbin Andrews, Graham Cunningham-Scott, Elliott Cunningham-Scott, Kale Jeffrey, Booker Jeffrey, Whitt Meitzen, Jennings Meitzen, Evan Jeffrey, Drake Melton, Everett Melton, Olivia Sharp and Graham Cooper.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vergie Graham Jeffrey and his infant sister, Florence Juanita Jeffrey.

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Larry Poff officiating. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery in Locust Grove. Pallbearers are David Jeffrey, Robert Neal Jeffrey, Bill Jeffrey, Bruce Southard, Leobardo Reyes and Robert Marshall.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 15, 2015 and 1:00 P.M. till service time, Friday, January 16, 2015.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Meadows Employee Educational Fund, 1680 Batesville Boulevard, Batesville, AR 72501
