Carnell McSpadden, aged 80, died peacefully on April 13, 2016, at her home in Batesville, Arkansas, surrounded by family. Carnell was born February 15, 1936, the daughter of William Henry and Susie Wood.
Carnell was the secretary for West elementary School in Batesville, Arkansas for 22 years. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, bird-watching, and spending time with her grandchildren. Carnell was a member of Bethesda Campground United Methodist Church.
In 1953, Carnell married her high school sweetheart, Doyle McSpadden. Their 49 years of marriage included travel related to Doyle's service in the Air Force and then their retirement back to Batesville, Arkansas, in 1974.
Carnell was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle McSpadden; great grandson, Neason Wes McSpadden; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Susie, and her husband Leroy Bowren; her children, daughter Sherri McSpadden and son-in-law Karl Duemer of Houston, Texas; son, Ken and daughter-in-law Michelle McSpadden; son, Randy and daughter -in-law Connie McSpadden; son, Tim and daughter-in-law Sharon McSpadden; and daughter, Patty McSpaddden, all of Batesville, Arkansas. Carnell is also survivied by six grandchildren: Russell McSpadden, Tiffany Severs, Matthew McSpaddden, Stephanie Flood, Chris McSpadden and Josh Poff; and four great grandchildren: Madison and Eli Severs, Aloysha McSpadden, and Landon McSpadden.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members. No visitation is planned. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10 am, Saturday, April 16, at Bethesda Campground United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be sent in her name to Bethesda Campground United Methodist Church, 705 Dennison Heights, Batesville, AR 72501.
